Jules F. "Doc" Hambrick's Obituary
Jules F. “Doc” Hambrick was taken from us on Sunday, October 11, 2015. He was born on September 11, 1936 in New Orleans, LA to the late Charles Hambrick and Lillian E. Fabre.
Doc entered the world with many physical disabilities and it took many long years of training for him to develop to a point where he could be functional in this complex society. He attended a boarding school in Mandeville, LA and Southern University’s Deaf School where he learned to communicate with sign language. This formal training and years of loving guidance and nurturing from his mother profoundly aided in his development of life’s skills.
Doc worked for many years as a brick cleaner for Ricca Demolishing Co. until his mother had him apply for a Government sponsored Disability job program with the U.S. Postal Service. He was hired, worked for 17 years, and retired.
Doc passed away peacefully at the age of 79. He is survived by his daughter, Tamiaka Hambrick, two grandchildren, Shaneya and Steven Hambrick, all of Bronx, New York, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 125 E 19th Ave., Covington, LA on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12 Noon with Visitation from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA. Please Share a Memory on the Tribute Wall at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
