Juanita Jane Fruge Mizell's Obituary
Juanita Jane Fruge Mizell passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Covington, LA at the age of 78. She was a native of Basile, LA and was a longtime resident of Folsom, La.
Juanita was the loving wife of the late Edward “Buster” Mizell of 46 years, and was preceded in death by her daughter, Bridget Mizell Miller, her parents, Lawrence and Theresa Fruge, her siblings, Floyd Fruge, Lawrence Fruge, Jr., Shirley Fruge, Zula Hester and Pearl Weisse. She is survived by her children, Kevin Mizell (Gail), Brenda Thompson (Mike), Melissa Triay (Paul), Kimberly Thigpen (Gary) and Renee North (Kendall) and her siblings, Herman Fruge, Melvin Fruge and Stella Webb, and also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Mizell, Katie Magee, Kayla Cardinale, Matti Roussel, Claire Landsden, Cameron Triay, Seth Triay, Chase Triay, Jessica Jenkins, Bailey Smith and Avery North and numerous great grandchildren.
Buster and Juanita owned and operated Green Thumb Nursery in Folsom for 43 years. They were very active in the 4-H livestock association programs and traveled with their children showing livestock animals. She also served as Justice of the Peace for Ward 2 in St Tammany Parish for over 30 years and one of her greatest joys was celebrating marriages, many of which she officiated on her lovely patio showcasing her and Buster’s camellia gardens. Juanita was a well-known hostess in the Folsom area, family and friends gathered annually for her Christmas Gumbo and numerous other social celebrations.
Her home was always opened to family and friends for visits on the back porch, and she will surely be missed by all.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 11345 St John Church Road, Folsom, LA on Monday, February 13, 2023 as 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow in Bogue Falaya Cemetery in Folsom, LA.
