Juan de la Cruz Ortiz passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010.
Beloved husband of Nodua Ann Dycus Ortiz. Father of John A. Ortiz and spouse Janel and Michael J. Ortiz and spouse Justine. Grandfather of Eric M. and Braden J. Ortiz. Brother of Numael A. Ortiz, Juan Ortiz Martinez, Mariella Camelo, Ofelia Ortiz and the late Jose Vicente Ortiz, Luis Camelo and Carlos Camelo. Nephew of Carmen Sanchez.
Age 76 years. A native of Puente National, Colombia, a former resident of Belle Chasse, LA and a resident of Bedico, LA for the past 16 years. He was a retired Helicopter and Aircraft Technician and AI Inspector. Graduated from High School in Colombia, attended Technical school in Colombia and Delgado. Worked for Petroleum Helicopters, Air Logistics, Evergreen Aviation, American Helicopters and Tex Air Helicopters. He was a charter member of the Father Peter Boerding Knights of Columbus Council # 6357 of Belle Chasse, a 4th Degree Knight of Council #1905 of Gretna and a member of St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville. He volunteered at St. Tammany Parish Hospital as a patient escort, an avid gardener and devoted to family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447 on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment in Bedico Community Cemetery, Ponchatoula, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Children’s Hospital.
