Joyce Houlemard Nicholas' Obituary
Joyce Houlemard Nicholas passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at her home in Madisonville, LA. She was born on August 27, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to the late Harold A. Houlemard and Mae Staes Houlemard.
Joyce is survived by her beloved of 52 years, Vincent Joseph Nicholas. She was the loving mother of Keith Nicholas (Joy Melanda), Jill Nicholas (George Paxson, Jr.), Michele Alexis (Eugene Alexis), Cheryl Espinal (George Espinal), Anthony Nicholas and Matthew Nicholas. Joyce was the proud grandmother of Keith Michael, Samantha, Sydney, and Dylan Nicholas, Benjamin, Rachel, and Julia Paxson, Brittanie, Darian, and Conner Alexis, Amy, Caitlin, George, Allison, Sierra, and Elise Espinal, Jaiden and Peyton Nicholas. Joyce was the great-grandmother of Adalai, Kaiya, Jaiden, Adonios, Madison, Jordan, and Jacqueline. She was the sister of Jeanette West (David), Sylvia Baham (the late Rodney), Harold Houlemard (Nora), Noel Travers (James), and Irene Houlemard. Joyce is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce loved to win at cards and games. She loved to dance, joke, and laugh. Joyce was a welcoming and gracious host whom cared more about people than things. She was happy and content at her home in Madisonville. She will be dearly missed by her sisters and life-long friends at their regular dates and lunches. Joyce’s greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447, on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will be at Madisonville Cemetery, Madisonville, LA. If desired, a donation in the name of Joyce H. Nicholas may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
