Joyce Mitchell Loup's Obituary
Joyce Mitchell Loup, age 91 of Windsor Senior Living in Mandeville, LA died on Monday, August 13, 2018, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA. Born, Friday, December 24, 1926 in New Orleans, LA to Buford A. Mitchell and Lillian Mitchell.
Survived by her Daughter - Mary Ann Cain (Jim), Sons - Stephen "Jack" Loup (Sheila), Randy Loup (Janet), Dennis Loup (Connie), Thomas Loup (Janice), James Loup (Sheryl), Gary Loup (Diane), Sisters - Lorraine Tauzier, Joan Russel, 15 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren.
She was predeceased in death by her Husband of 52 years Stephen "Jack" Loup, Jr., her parents, a sister, Rosemary Lamar, granddaughter, Jennifer Hatten and grandson David Loup.
Joyce attended Sacred Heart High School in New Orleans and after graduation, she worked as a secretary until she married Jack on August 5, 1944. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Joyce spread joy wherever she went with her beautiful smile and she always had words of encouragement for those around her. Joyce was devout in her faith and was a wonderful example to her family. Proverbs 31:28 – “Her children rise up and call her blessed.”
The Loup family moved to Covington in 1962. Joyce was a member of the Covington Country Club Ladies Golf Association and also a long-time member of Our Lady of the Lake Altar Society. She served as a volunteer of the R.S.V.P. program for 13 years when she resided at Rouguette Lodge in Mandeville. Joyce loved to dance and enjoyed playing Bingo!
The family wishes to express our gratitude to the Staff of Hospice of St. Tammany and Windsor Senior Living for the compassionate care and love that was extended to our Mother.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 1:00 PM to service time.
Interment will be private at Willie Cemetery, Folsom, LA.
In Lieu of flowers donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Alzheimer’s Association
