Joyce Ann LeDet Elzy was born on July 15, 1938 to Murphy LeDet and Mathilda Clement LeDet. She departed this life on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in her home at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Oscar William Elzy, Sr. Loving mother of 5 children, Gabrielle (Gobbie) Mathilda (Dimples) her husband Reginald (Reg), Oscar (Brother), Dominique (Nikki) her husband James (Cadillac) and Jean Paul (Jeanie); 7 grandchildren, Martinique Noelle, Treysean Ramon and his wife Tuesday, Alexus, Francois, Santana, Jean Paul Jr. and Jayden; 6 great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Treysean, Jr., Da’Sean, Davontre, Mikhail(Junie) and Maxime (Max).
Born in the Catholic faith, Joyce remained there until her death. She was baptized at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and later took her membership to St. Edwards Catholic Church in New Iberia, Louisiana. She moved to Covington, Louisiana and worshipped at St. Peter’s.
Joyce Ann LeDet Elzy graduated from Grambling State University (Grambling College) in 1962 with a B.S. (Bachelor of Science) in Professional Education and then went on to teach French and English to grades 10, 11 and 12 at Covington High School for 40 plus years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service, in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM with visitation at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
