Joyce Givens Alford's Obituary
Joyce Givens Alford, the sweetest lady you would ever meet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in Gretna, Louisiana, with her family at her side. She spent the last two years actively enjoying life while residing at Restoration Assisted Living in Covington, Louisiana.
She was born in Amite, Louisiana, on December 20, 1932.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Debbie (Marc) Mistretta; grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan (Angela), Stephanie (Brian), Marc (Jennifer), and Duane; great-grandchildren, Ty, Rhett, Jace, Cruise, Kai, Jaxon, Stella, Cecelia, Kiara, Alyssa, Christopher, Timothy, Jeremy, Joshua, Carissa, DJ, Blake, and Devin; and many extended family members and friends. Joyce loved her family and especially loved spoiling the grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alton “Bob” Alford; her daughters and son in law, Marylyn Haislip and Beverly and Jay Youngs; a granddaughter Kristi Churchill; and her parents, Willie and Dempsey Givens.
Joyce was devout member of First Baptist Church of Mandeville for over 60 years. She served on numerous committees as well as serving as Hostess, being involved in Vacation Bible School and Senior Saints. If the church doors were open, she was there. She was a substitute teacher for Mandeville High School where she was recognized as Substitute Teacher of the Year. She was a member of the Lakeview Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary for 7 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st. Ave., Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
