Joy Hebert Dauzat's Obituary
Joy Hebert Dauzat passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 as she slept peacefully. She was born on November 4, 1960 in Jefferson Parish to David Paul and Joy Elise Hebert. Joy grew up in Jefferson, Louisiana and attended dancing school before going to Riverdale High School. She married her childhood sweetheart and went to college at Delgado in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating with a degree in graphic arts, she was accepted as an apprentice as a sign painter. She did her best in gold leaf work in offices in the CBD of New Orleans, Louisiana and soon moved to the Baton Rouge/Paradis area.
She loved dogs and horses and would work the fair at the Cochon de Lait festival in Cottonport, Louisiana. Joy would work as a cook at the 3-day festival painting storefronts and bartering for boudin. She loved the Cajun life. Joy was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Jimmie Dauzat. Together they raised his grandson Jacob Dauzat.
Joy is survived by her son Roger C. Escude’ (Rachel) and is a proud grandmother of Sarah, Gabrielle, Autumn Rose, Roger Jr., Blaise, and Ryan. She is also survived by her sisters Suzanne Lowry and Paula Horkavi, Aunt Maggie, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and so many friends and neighbors.
Her sister, Linda Shuter and brother, David Hebert preceded her in death as well as her goddaughter and her sister-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Ochsner’s and St. Tammany Hospital, Eagan Hospice and Ochsner’s Home Health.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM until service time.
