Joseph Tate Evans Sr.'s Obituary
JOSEPH TATE EVANS, SR passed quietly on Thanksgiving Day surrounded by family. His loving wife of 54 years Mary Carolyn Evans preceded him to Heaven in 2006 where they are reunited. Mr. Joe was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on May 10, 1930 to Alfred Woodson and Dixie Simmons Evans. He grew up in southern Mississippi and New Orleans and then attended LSU to earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at LSU. After working for DuPont, he and Carolyn settled in Covington in 1963. Together they raised Joe Tate, David, Carol, and Lyn, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren with one more on the way. Mr. Joe even served as the King of Olympia! Known for his generosity, kindness, and dignity, he set the example his family lives by today. He will be missed but remembered by family and friends. His older brother Alfred Woodson Evans lives in Houston, Texas with his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:30 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
