Joseph Thomas Dupree Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Thomas “Joe” Dupree Jr., 94, of Mandeville, LA passed away on August 9,2024.
Joe was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Lillian and Joe Dupree on March 18, 1930. He went to school in New Orleans. He married Virginia Rose White on June 2, 1951 in Ruston, La. He graduated from LA Tech University. Joe was in the Army Infantry, LA National Guard, and the Air Force Reserve. Joe was a Charter Member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Metairie, LA from 1961-2000. He retired from Standard Supply Hardware Company in New Orleans, LA. He and his wife, Virginia, moved to Mandeville, LA in 2000. He was a member of St. Timothy on the North Shore from 2000-2021. He sang in the choir at both churches.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Rose White, his parents Joseph and Lillian Dupree, his wife's parents Dr. C.B and Verda White; his brothers and their wives, Curt and Vena Dupree and Sam and Babs Dupree; his nephew Tommy Dupree, his great-nephew Holden Yates, and his granddaughter, Brooke Ashley Crawford. Joe is survived by his daughter Terri Dupree Ralls (Rob), his son Bud Dupree (Sandy), his daughter Carol Gonzales (Rick), his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James and Donna White. Joe had eight grandchildren; Janet Ralls Penrose (Richard), Joe Dupree (Kempy), Jamie Ralls, Jared Broussard (Mallory), Teryan Broussard (Kyla), James Ralls (Virginia), Candice Crawford (Justin), and Lance Crawford. Joe had 13 great-grandchildren; Stephen Penrose (Alyssa), Hannah Penrose, Jaileigh Johnson, Mikyah Crawford, Akacia Crawford, Ragan Dupree, Brighton Broussard, Parker Crawford, Bodhi Crawford, Ella Crawford, Vincent Ralls, Allie Broussard, and Kate Ralls. Joe had one great-great-grandson Marshall Penrose.
As a young man with his father and twin brother and as a father with his wife, family and cherished life-long friends, Joe loved spending time on Bayou Lacombe and Saline Lake. Joe enjoyed hunting and spending time with the Houston Family.
The family would like to thank the home health care nurse, staff, and Jenny who came almost every week with lunch, a game or two and a visit.
