Joseph Chris Bruno's Obituary
Joseph “Chris” Bruno passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the age of 60. Beloved husband of 39 years to Linda Holloway Bruno. Loving father of Patricia Bruno Bennett (Patrick) and Joseph Chris Bruno, Jr. (Courtney). Son of the late Jessie Overstreet Bruno and Joseph Nicholas Bruno. Brother of Debra Fascio, Craig Bruno and Darryl Bruno. Grandfather of Payton Joseph Bennett, Parker Sandra Bennett and Jensen Connolly Bruno.
Mr. Bruno was born on August 1, 1956. He was a 1974 graduate of Brother Martin High School and a 1978 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Xavier University, School of Pharmacy. He was dedicated to his profession as a pharmacist, working as a registered pharmacist for 39 years, and serving as supervisor of pharmacy at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital from 2006 to 2016. He married his high school sweetheart on August 12, 1977. On August 11, 1978 and December 6, 1980 respectively, they welcomed their two children. He was a fan of LSU and Saints football, a lover of food and traveling, and an enthusiast of Disney World and the Beatles. He had a special love for dogs, volunteering time at the local ASPCA. Anyone who came into contact with him knew the majority of his heart was reserved for children, especially his 3 grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs LA 70420 on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 12:00 noon with visitation at church on Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Bruno to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Masses. E.J.
