Joseph Berengher Brechtel, Jr.'s Obituary
Well known fishing guide, Joseph Berengher “Capt. Barry” Brechtel, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008.
Beloved husband of Pam Bitterwolf Brechtel; loving father of Beren, Sophia and Bennet Brechtel; son of Drs. Berengher and Rebecca Underwood Brechtel; son-in-law to Gordon and Sandra Bitterwolf; brother of Royceann B. Fugler and her husband Chad; brother-in-law to Mark Bitterwolf and his wife Anne and Lynn B. Ward and her husband Brent; and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Brechtel, III (Godfather)., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Clarkson, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olson, Mr. And Mrs. Joe Krippel and Mrs. Charles Machecek, his Godmother. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Brechtel, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Underwood; and his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Battistella.
Age 43 years, he was a native of Algiers, LA, he was a resident of Covington, LA for the past 10 years. He was a 1984 graduate of Jesuit High School and a 1989 graduate of Loyola University. He was a financial consultant with Merill Lynch and Smith Barney for 18 years. He was the co-owner of Big Fish Charters and Breton Sound Marina. He was the Host of the “Louisiana Wildlife” program and the noontime Friday fishing report both on WDSU TV in New Orleans. He was a member of the Christian Golfers Association and the Coastal Conservation Association. He gave of his time and resources to the Kids Kicking Cancer Fishing Rodeo, Little Sisters of the Poor, New Orleans Mission, and Fishing For Hope.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 West Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 12:00 Noon.
Visitation AT THE CHURCH will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA.
