Joseph Herman Bily's Obituary
Joseph Herman Bily passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Valeria Broome Bily; loving father of Robert K. “Bob” Bily and Linda Susan Bily Troncoso; grandfather to Robert “Robbie” Troncoso, Jr., Randall “Randy” Troncoso and Russell “Rusty” Troncoso; and brother to Merlin Bily and his wife Shirley and Douglas Bily and his wife Rose. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Pattison Bily; his father, Herman Joseph Bily; and a sister, Anna Faye Bily Kottemann.
Age 84 years, he was a native of New Orleans, LA, formerly a longtime resident of Metairie, LA, and he was currently a resident of Covington, LA and had been for the past 11 years. A United States Navy veteran, he served during World War II. At his retirement, he was a claims manager for Gray & Company in Metairie, LA. He was a member of WeDK Social Club of New Orleans, A charter member of Lakeside Country Club of Metairie and Franco’s Athletic Club in Mandeville where he was an avid tennis player. He was part of the tennis team which represented Louisiana at the 2003 USTA Nationals in Arizona. For some 30 years he officiated high school and college basketball. In his later years of life, he devoted more time to Art sketching.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his funeral services on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
