Johnnie Rebecca Pemble Bourgeois' Obituary
Johnnie Rebecca Pemble Bourgeois, at the age of 79, entered eternal rest peacefully on Friday morning, August 5, 2022 at her home. She was born in Thibodeaux, Louisiana on January 24, 1943 to John Willis Pemble of Norwood, Louisiana and Winona Bonin Pemble of Morgan City, Louisiana.
She is survived by her beloved husband Richard W. Bourgeois of 58 devoted years, her adoring children, Sage John Bourgeois Sr. (Greta Schwing), Mace Bourgeois (Susan Hoffman) and Thyme Bourgeois. Johnnie was the proud grandmother of Rennan Bourgeois, Merrick Bourgeois, Landen Bourgeois, Sage John Bourgeois, Jr., fondly known as Sutter, Kaelyn Bourgeois, Thomas Bourgeois, Joshua Bonnett, Evelyn Bourgeois, affection-ately known as Emme, Shawn Doyle, Maggie Doyle and Brady Doyle. She is also survived by a host of won-derful lifelong friends.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Hazel Stafford; and her husband’s aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Richard Schmid, whom she was very fond of.
A native of New Orleans, longtime resident of Mandeville for over 40 years, Johnnie, graduated from Warren Easton High School. After high school, and dating her lifelong sweetheart Richard from age 12, they married in 1964 in Metairie, Louisiana. Johnnie was a devoted wife and a loving and dedicated mother to their three chil-dren.
Johnnie was compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. She was an extremely talented seam-stress, and she cherished making her grandchildren’s custom clothes, gowns and Halloween costumes. Johnnie enjoyed spending time indoors with her family, cooking, watching musicals and classic movies like Gone with the Wind. Johnnie was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her jovial spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of her cherished friends and family until they meet her again.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana, on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 2:00 PM till 3:30 PM; Words of Remembrance will follow the visitation at 3:30 PM. Inurnment will take place privately at a later time.
