Johnie Younger Cook's Obituary
Johnie Younger Cook passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008. She was born January 6, 1930 in Eupora, MS to the late Barney D. and Exa Hightower Younger, was raised in Mayersville, MS and has been a resident of Mandeville since 1993.
The beloved wife of John G. Cook for 56 years, she is survived by one daughter, Connie C. DeGenova and her husband Thomas; three grandsons: John T., Matthew L. and Andrew P. DeGenova all of Kenner, LA and her sister, Barney Jean Allen of Clinton, MS. One sister, Mary Ray Davis preceded her in death.
Johnie graduated from the Mississippi State College for Women and taught English for a short time until she met her soul mate, John. She moved with him and his career with Halliburton Services around the country for 41 years making friends and devoting herself to her family. She was very proud of her family, especilly her three grandsons and their many accomplishments. She was also an active member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church and a former member of P.E.O.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow services at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington.
