John Winfield Smythe, Jr., PhD passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
Beloved father of Georgina Cogley (Greg), Michelle Oakley (James) and John W. Smythe, III (Michele); grandfather of eight; brother of James Smythe; and fiancé, to Madeline Tonti. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mary Maholtz Smythe; his mother, Ida Mae Smith Smythe; his father, John Winfield Smythe, Sr.; a sister, Gretchen S. Reese; and a brother, Charles Smythe.
Age 75 years, he was a native of Youngstown, OH, a resident of Covington, LA., and was a United States Army Veteran.
Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date in Girard, OH as he is laid to rest next to his wife.
