John James Shields' Obituary
John James (Jack) Shields passed away on Sunday March 1 at University Hospital in New Orleans. He was born in Ogdensburg, NY on August 29, 1925. He graduated from Ridgeway High School, Ridgeway PA and the University of Houston where he was a member of Kappa Delta Kappa fraternity (now SAE). A veteran of WWII he served as a gunnery instructor in the Army Air Corps. Retired from Texaco Inc. land department after 35 years. Resided in Lafayette, Metairie and for the last 23 years in Mandeville, LA. He was a member of the Pierre Georges Rousseau Chapter of the Louisiana Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, June Knight Shields, sons J. Jeffrey, wife Rebecca, Lakeville MN and Steven K, wife Yvette, Metairie LA and daughter Susan S. Wunderlich, husband Richard, Alva FL and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr. Mandeville LA 70448 on Thursday March 5 at 11 am with visitation at 10 am.
