John Mack Roper's Obituary
John Mack Roper, a 20 year resident of Covington, LA and formerly of New Orleans, LA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 4:30 PM.
John was the loving husband of Susan Armand Roper, the best father on earth to John Howell Roper and his wife Jennifer O’Brien Roper, Abigail Elizabeth Roper, and Christyl Angelle Elizabeth Roper, and grandfather to Spencer Allen Nicholas and Madeline McClendon Roper.
Born in Washington, DC, the son of John Howell Roper and Mary Polhill Roper, John attended Sidwell Friends School and later earned degrees from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA, Tulane University of New Orleans and LSU Law School in Baton Rouge.  John worked as an attorney for Exxon Corporation until his retirement.
John is also survived by a sister, Sandra Roper Hardy, and other loving family in Florida and Georgia.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Highway 1085, Covington, LA.
Visitation will begin on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to the Covington Rotary Foundation Feeding the Needy Program, a charity John loved working with at Christmas time.
The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospital for their care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington.
