John Luke Prendergast Jr.'s Obituary
John Luke Prendergast, Jr. passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 in Covington, LA at the age of 64 following complications from cancer. John was the cherished husband of Faye Connelly Prendergast, the beloved father of Luke James Prendergast (Rachel) and Daniel John Prendergast (Danielle), and the devoted grandfather of Arabella Jane Prendergast and Emma Grace Prendergast. He was the son of the late Inez Catherine Crane Prendergast and John Luke Prendergast, Sr. He is survived by siblings Carol Prendergast McManus (Neil), Kathleen Prendergast Edwards (Ben), Michael Thomas Prendergast (Allison), and Ann Prendergast Graves (Carl) as well as an uncle, Morell “Mo” Crane. He is also survived by many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A graduate of the University of New Orleans, he was a Certified Public Accountant and was employed by Fillette Green Maritime Shipping Services. Mr. Prendergast lived in Bush, LA for 17 years, where he considered it a privilege to serve on the Board of Commissioners for St. Tammany Fire District 9.
John was known for his keen intellect, sharp wit, and strong faith in the sovereignty of God. He spent many hours in deep discussions with family and friends about the meaning of life.
A talented musician, John enjoyed playing guitar in numerous settings with fellow musicians too many to list. He especially loved being a part of praise bands worshipping God, making music with guitars that he built himself.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 LA Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be held privately at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA.
