Having met John 12 years ago as I began a new career in a new place, he dedicated time to introducing me to people I now call friends, and helped me build long-lasting relationships. John found joy in helping others, and I will never forget how he helped me. He will me missed greatly by all that knew him, and I know he will continue to watch over those that he cared for. My sincere condolences to John's family and friends. He will be missed.

John was a fine man and a great historian to this area. He and his wife were generous in the community with their time. I can remember when he and Margaret bought one of the foul line nets for one of the baseball fields in at the ball park in Madisonville when our little town was still little. The last time I saw John was when he visited the TCE office and dropped off a CD with some historical articles and pictures to me. His knowledge of this area was amazing.
