John Daniel O'Brien's Obituary
John Daniel O’Brien, II passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 in Covington, LA. He was born on June 25, 1949 in New Orleans, LA to the late John Daniel O’Brien and Anna May Smith O’Brien.
John grew up in New Orleans and after graduating from Behrman High School in 1967, he attended LSU to study Journalism. John enlisted in the US Army in 1970 where he proudly served his country for four years. While serving, he learned the skills that would establish his career as a telecommunication technician. John worked in his field for 27 years, where he built and sold several successful telecommunication businesses. He retired early in 2003 to his home in Bush, LA where he enjoyed his back deck overlooking the pond. He loved to read, fish, travel, and cook amazing meals in his wok.
John was the beloved husband of Rosalind Bealer O’Brien for 51 years. He was the loving father of John Daniel O’Brien, III, David Todd O’Brien (Lynn Stonner O’Brien), and Rebecca Elizabeth O’Brien. John was the proud grandfather of David Todd O’Brien, II, Madison Belle O’Brien, Christian Blake O’Brien, and Violet AnnaMae O’Brien. He was the brother of Sharon O’Brien, Susan O’Brien Van Loon, Anne O’Brien, and Patrick O’Brien, and the late Michael O’Brien.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Liturgy of the Word at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time.
