John Jacob Meyer, Sr. passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his residence in Ponchatoula, La.
Beloved husband of 49 years to Gisela Assel Meyer; loving father of John Jacob Meyer, Jr. (Nancy), Susan M. Woodruff and Angela M. Dutsch (Joseph); loving grandfather to Sophie, Winfield, Jena, Zachary, Lane, Jarrett, Gabrielle and Ingrid; great-grandfather to Winfield and Blakely; and brother of Louis Edward Meyer (Patricia). He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Reilly Meyer; his father, Louis Meyer; his sister, Irene Meyer; and a nephew, Timothy Meyer.
Age 74 years, he was a native of New Orleans, La, a former resident of Metairie, La and a current resident of Ponchatoula, La for the past 2 years. John was a United States Army Veteran and been employed with National Foods for some 37 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time.
