Yesterday I heard the sad news that my favorite mail carrier ever had passed on. It's with such sorrow that this message came to me, but such happy memories flood over me when thinking about him. Never could there be a person truer of heart, more giving or loving than our Pat. A brief memory I have is of Pat, passing our house one day, seeing my parents struggling to bring a tub in off the porch while remodeling...well, of course he stopped to help...and left saying NEVER again, oh the things he seemed to get himself into. How many mail carriers would do that for someone? My love and condolences to the family and friends.

Chablis: We have been out of town and I just learned of Pat's passing. He was a great friend, a dear, dear man for whom loyalty and friendship was much more important than money or power. I cannot tell you how many wonderful conversations we had or the time we spent together comparing his political mind to my reporter's instincts. He was a tremendous campaigner--whether he was on the ballot or not, and his love of his parish and his home was so evident. He gave all he had to help those around him, and he positively ADORED you. I am so blessed to have known him and later to have met this daughter who was his heart. Thank you for sharing him with me. I will never forget him. We have lost a giant, but I know there is an angel watching over you in this time of sorrow. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.
