John Bertrand "J.B." Ibos Sr.'s Obituary
John Bertrand “J.B.” Ibos, Sr., age 80, of Covington, LA passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021. He was born on November 3, 1940 in New Orleans, LA to the late Emile V. Ibos, Sr. and the late Leah (Blessing) Ibos.
J.B. is survived by Judy Ibos; his children J.B. Ibos, Jr. (Chanda), Caroline D. Ibos (Kevin), Jeffery Wade Ibos, Catherine L. Ibos; and eleven grandchildren Rex, Ashleigh, Parker, Bella, Hannah, Lauren, Payton, Rhett, Alexis, Addison, and Lily. He is also survived by his brother Emile V. Ibos, Jr. (the late Joan) and his nieces and nephew Joanie, Julie, and Vincent.
A lifelong resident of Covington, J.B. graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1958 and was awarded the Jimmy Dunn Award. He then graduated from Louisiana State University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. After graduation, he went to work for Waldemare S. Nelson Company until 1974 when his father passed away. At that time, he became President of Ibos Roofing, Inc.
J.B. was an active member in his community, serving on several boards including City Council, St. Paul’s Alumni Association, and Regional & City Planning Commissions. He was inducted into the St. Paul’s Athletic Hall of Fame, and was the “voice of the wolves” for over 10 years.
Devout in his faith, J.B. was a parishioner at St. Peter Catholic Church and active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E 19th Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM. A WAKE will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church beginning at 12:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow the services in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W 21st Ave., Covington, LA.
