Dr. John Louis Hebert Jr.'s Obituary

Dr. John Louis Hebert, Jr. at the age of 68, passed away on Friday evening, March 3, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attended St. Maurice Parochial School and Holy Cross High School (class of 1972). He received his B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of New Orleans, followed by his Master of Education. He taught mathematics at Chalmette High School and served both the St. Bernard Parish and Orleans Parish School Boards for 10 years before returning to the University of New Orleans to earn his M.B.A. He worked in the energy sector where he retired as a Sr. Manager of Supply Chain from Entergy after giving 24 years of service. In August of 2013, John achieved a lifelong goal by receiving his Ph. D. in Human Resource Education and Workforce Development from Louisiana State University.
Together with family, John loved to travel. With his wife, he learned to scuba dive in Greece, zip lined across forests in Alaska, rode elephants in Thailand and ate Sukiyaki in Japan. He recently returned from touring the Panama Canal, Aruba, Columbia, and Costa Rica. Among the interesting places he explored were the Baltic, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Europe. Although he traveled to 28 countries and 5 continents, his greatest venture was becoming a grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Durr Hebert; his children, Sarah Hebert Markley (Donald) and Scott Hebert (Kaitlin); his grandchildren, John Markley, and Josette Markley; and his brothers, Keith Hebert, Gerald Hebert, and David Hebert.
John is preceded in death by his parents John Hebert and Marie Camille Hebert, and his sister Laurie Hebert Barrow.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM until service time. Interment will take place privately.
