John E. "Ted" Guillory, MD's Obituary
John E. “Ted” Guillory, MD passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Scott Guillory and Joan Gammon Guillory, his brother, David Scott Guillory, his brothers-in-law, Joseph Craig Bushnell, Anthony R. Weber and a nephew, Aaron Michael Bushnell.
Ted is survived by his wife, Celia Weber Guillory, his son, Graham Scott Guillory, his daughter, Stephanie Nicole Santos, his siblings, Brian Alan Guillory, Jeanine Louise Bushnell, his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Guillory, Dianna Guillory, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, LeRoy H. Weber and Rose B. Weber. Ted is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Broussard (Marcus), Camille Cormier (Troy), Pierre Guillory, Jacques Guillory, and his great nieces and nephews, Grayson, Ava, and Ty.
Ted had many talents and passions. In his early years, he was a Ham Radio Operator, saxophone and piano player, and a ballet dancer. He graduated from LaGrange High in 1966 where he was an active member of the Golf Team, 4H, Band, Key Club and The National Honor Society.
He graduated from McNeese State Collage in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. He then went on to become a Mud Engineer working for Dresser Magcobar in Singapore. After returning to the U.S., Ted graduated from the L.S.U. School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charity Hospital in 1982.
Ted practiced as an OB/GYN in Opelousas, the River Parishes, Jefferson Parish and St. Tammany Parish. As an OB/GYN he was a member of the LA State Medical Society, River Parishes Medical Society, Greater New Orleans OB/GYN Society, International Society of Operative Endoscopists and the American Association of Gynecology Laparoscopists.
He tremendously enjoyed his work and often referred to it as “happy medicine.”
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services on Saturday, February 24, at the E J Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA. The visitation will begin at 2:00pm and will conclude with services at 4:00pm. Interment will be private at a later date.
