John Earl Graham's Obituary
John Earl Graham, 82, of Mandeville, passed away on November 4, 2022 with advanced Parkinson’s disease surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Lena La Fleur Graham and William Ovington Graham on September 22, 1940 in New Orleans. He was graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1958. He received his bachelors in Business Management in 1965 from Tulane University. John worked for McDonough Marine service for 35 years, retiring as Vice President. It was his only full-time employment.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Hunter Graham. They were married on September 11th in 1965 during the aftermath of hurricane Betsy. John is also survived by his son, William Hunter “Hunt” Graham and daughter, Georgia Graham Croley (Jason Daniel Coley). His grandchildren are William Hunter Graham II, John Thomas Graham, Caroline Gibson Croley, and Carson Graham Croley. John was predeceased by his parents Lena and William Graham.
In addition to being a devoted husband and father, John was an avid car enthusiast. He loved making model cars and refurbishing the real thing. Mercedes were his passion. Being an active member of First Baptist Church of Covington, traveling, woodworking, and playing golf were his favorite activities. He also treasured times spent with special friends – especially his Sunday Night Dinner Group “The Posse”. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2002, John spent many hours fostering the Parkinson’s Support Group in Mandeville.
Celebration of John’s life will be Thursday, November 10th in “The Chapel” of First Baptist Church of Covington, 16054 Murphy Road, Covington, Louisiana. Visitation is at 9:30 am with service at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall in the main church.
