John Ray DeSilva Jr.'s Obituary
John Ray DeSilva, Jr. passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born on February 19, 1953 in New Orleans, LA to the late John Ray DeSilva, Sr. and Kathleen Dufour DeSilva.
John was the beloved husband of Susan Heap DeSilva for 48 years. He was the loving father of Michelle D. Burslem (Paul), Monica D. Kelsey (Kevin), and John R. “Jay” DeSilva, III (Rebecca). John was the proud grandfather of Paul, Jr., Caroline, Clare, Robbie, Cate, Susie, Grace, Emily, and Julia Burslem; Nick, Cooper, and Blake Kelsey; Maddie, Nate, and Liv Bavely, and Charley DeSilva. He was the brother of Susan Clark, Patricia Smith, Mary Vaught, Anne Smith, Michael DeSilva, and the late Kaki DeSilva.
John was a man who wore many hats- husband, father, brother, businessman, and friend- and he wore them very well. Along with his wife, John founded and built the local company, i shred LLC, in Covington. A lover of life, John never met a stranger and genuinely cared about the well-being of his family and friends. John’s infectious smile and kind heart will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Rd., Covington, LA 70435 at 11:00 AM. A WAKE will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Join the family praying the Rosary at 7:30 PM.
