John Ellis Conklin's Obituary
John Ellis Conklin departed this life on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with cardio-pulmonary disease.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Sheron FitzSimons Conklin, daughter, Sara Conklin and mother, June Dickinson Conklin. His father was the late John Space Conklin.
A quiet man, dedicated to family and close friends, John was born and lived most of his life in New Orleans and loved everything about the City. He worked for many years in marine claims for Midland Enterprises via facilities in Baton Rouge and Reserve, LA and later for Marsh & McLennan in New Orleans. He retired after Hurricane Katrina “to enjoy the land” on the Northshore. Always the consummate collector of old things with stories, John loved to peruse auctions and flea markets in search of a find. He studied and excelled at photography, stained glass, wood working, pen and knife making.
