John O. Carver II's Obituary
John O. Carver II, born March 19, 1937, in Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 89. He spent his adult life in New Orleans, a city whose energy matched his own and which he proudly called home.
John wore many hats over the years. He graduated from LSUNO with a degree in Engineering and went on to own several successful businesses, each reflecting his drive, ingenuity, and larger‑than‑life spirit. John was not a quiet man — he filled every room he entered. His booming voice, bold opinions, and unmistakable presence made him unforgettable to everyone who crossed his path. Nobody ever forgot the big, bald‑headed man — and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Faith played a central role in John’s life. He was deeply involved in the Lutheran church and devoted countless hours to serving on many boards and committees. His commitment to his church community reflected his values — service, fellowship, and showing up for others.
After retirement, John and his beloved wife, Joy, embraced life on the open road, traveling the country together in their RV. Those years of adventure — exploring new places, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other’s company — were among the most cherished of his life. Their 60 years of marriage were marked by devotion, laughter, and a bond that remained unshakable.
He is survived by his daughter Lori Bruno (John), his son David Carver (Kendra), and his grandson Christian Carver (Isa), each carrying forward pieces of his strength, humor, and resilience. John is preceded in death by his cherished wife Joy, and by his grandson Blake, both held forever in his heart.
