John Philip Briant, Jr. passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 92.
Beloved husband of Virginia Blanke Briant. Loving father of John Philip Briant III, James S. “Jimmy” Briant (Annette D.) and Bruce M. Briant. Son of the late Louise Schmitt Briant and John Philip Briant, Sr. Brother of the late Eugenie B. Lomenick and Mercedes B. Bell. Grandfather of Jared B. Briant (Ingrid), Stephanie B. Brown (Jerrod), Robert S. Briant and Blair N. Briant. Great-grandfather of Wesley Brown, Lindsey Brown, Drake Brown, Mia Briant and Jake Briant. Step-grandfather of Meredith, Camille and Evan Bechac.
Mr. Briant was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Mandeville since 1969. He graduated from Jesuit High School and Loyola University. He was a Captain and Bombardier in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a parishioner of and served on the Vestry at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Mandeville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 4499 Sharp Road, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM followed by a celebration of John’s life at the family’s home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Briant to be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
