John Albert Brehm's Obituary
John Albert Brehm, age 70, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Betty Brehm; children, Desiré McDaniel, Sean McDaniel and his wife Steph, Andrea Bonin and her husband Troy, and Philip Brehm and his wife Danielle; grandchildren, Alex Brunet, Bode McDaniel, Addison Bonin, Abbigail Brunet, Gabe Bonin, and Gabriella Bonin, Audrey McDaniel, Sophie McDaniel, Griffin Brehm; siblings, Tom Brehm and his wife Ann and Rita Mason and her husband Don; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bernie Brehm; and a brother, Joseph Brehm.
Mr. John was a graduate of Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida. Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he worked as a flight engineer and squadron and served in the Desert Storm and Panama Conflicts before retiring in 1993 with over 20 years of honorable service. He spent 25 years as a quality control inspector for the Haeco company in Lake City, Florida, and he was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. John was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR. In his earlier years, he enjoyed racing and traveling to various destinations throughout the country. He will be remembered for his loving, sarcastic, and full-of-life personality and for being a devoted Catholic. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11:30 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 East 19th Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana.
