John Eugene Brandt, Jr.'s Obituary
John Eugene Brandt, Jr. passed away at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington on May 25, 2006, following a courageous battle with brain cancer; he was 71. Survivors include his beloved wife Dianne Richardson Brandt; his children from his first marriage: Mary Mizell (David), John “Jeb” Brandt III (Ann), Laura Alberts (Lloyd) of Metairie, LA, Tina B. Brantley (Mark) of Burke, VA and Joanna Case (Tyler) and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John E. and Thelma Livermore Brandt. He will be sadly missed by Brian Davis (Tracy) of Augusta, GA and four step grandchildren. Mr. Brandt was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Covington over 55 years. He attended Holy Cross School in New Orleans and graduated from St. Paul’s School in Covington where he was an accomplished athlete. He was employed as a crane operator by Louisiana Bridge Company/Prestressed Concrete and later formed Branco, Inc., a local company specializing in building rail car bridges, land clearing and demolition. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church, Krewe of KC, Krewe of Olympia, The Jaycees, The Knights of Columbus, Lion’s Club and was a former Member of the Board of Directors at Citizen’s Bank and Trust Co. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Service on Wednesday May 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433. A Catholic Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday May 30, 2006 at 6:00 PM. Visiting hours will begin Tuesday May 30, 2006 at 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM and Wednesday from 9:00AM until service time. Interment in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hebron Baptist Church Building Fund, 79614 Hwy 41, Bush, LA 70431 or a charity of choice.
