Dear Mrs. Bickers and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. You do not know me, but Dr. Bickers was my husband's (James Rutland) oncologist for many years. He was diagnosed with mulitple myeloma and we was told he lived longer than any other person with that disease.(24 years) We lost him to the disease 2 years ago. Our family would like you to know how much we appreciated your husband, and we will pray for you all, that you feel the comfort of God's presence.
Dr. Bickers was one of my clinical instructors. I always looked forward to his rounds. He was kind to students and patients alike. His teachings have stayed with me for 40 years and helped to form the base of the medical knowledge I use to this day.
Mary, I was very sorry to read of Dr. Bickers passing. My sympathy goes out to you and your family. I will always remember his help when Jackie Christensen got her training potty chair stuck on her head. He did not crack a smile and was so wonderful. That episode has always stuck out in my mind.
