John Louis Appe's Obituary
John Louis Appe passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in Covington, Louisiana at the age of 81.
John was born on April 12, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Effie (Edward) Curtis and Odette Caroline (Perez) Appe. He is survived by his four siblings: Gerald Lloyd Appe, Caroline Appe Sharpe, Jane Appe Millaway, and Catherine Appe McCrossen. He was predeceased by his half-brother Fredrick Carl Appe.
John has two children with Jean Marsolan Appe Bazer: Jason Edward Appe and Katherine “Katy” Appe Pitarro. John also fathered his two step-daughters: Noel Bourgeois Gauthier and Jamie Bourgeois Fritcher. He was known as “Gramps” to his grandchildren and was loved by his numerous nieces and nephews.
He owned and operated Tchefuncte Feed and Seed in Madisonville, La from 1978-2010.
He was a hardworking man, a loving father to his children, and known for his quick wit and generous spirit.
An intimate gathering will be held in John’s honor to celebrate his life in private, as he wished. The family would like to invite family and friends to the graveside service in The Garden of Pines Cemetery, 1400 N. Columbia St., Covington, LA. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM. He will be interred in the same cemetery where his father and mother, along with other beloved relatives are buried.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Appe be made to Youth Services Bureau in Covington, James Samaritan in Covington, Child Advocacy Services in Hammond or Hospice of St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
