I met Joe at the Abita Springs Library book club. Of course, many members had a little trouble understanding him, and I was often in the role of translator. I was always struck with Joe's warmth and grace -- he never got frustrated with himself or others when he had to repeat himself to make his words understood. And it was always worth understanding what he said. He was insightful, but never tried to put on airs. I didn't know Joe well, but always wished I had had the time to develop a friendship with him. I'm sure that, like all of us, he had his rough spots. But all I saw was a truly good human being. I am sorry for your loss.
