JoAnn Gautier Vincent's Obituary
JoAnn Gautier Vincent, age 78, of Abita Springs, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late John Louis Gautier and Leona Wiseman Gautier.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John W. “Jack” Vincent II; three children, John W. Vincent III (Meredith Hamby), Andrew M. Vincent (April Bauer), and Lauren Vogel (Gary); ten grandchildren, Zachary “Zach” Vincent, John W. “Wesley” Vincent IV, Katherine “Katie” Vogel, Megan Vincent, Lillian “Lily” Vincent, Alyssa “Aly” Vincent, Tyler Vogel, Abigail “Abby” Vincent, Isabella “Bella” Vincent, and Harper Vincent; and her brother, Don Louis Gautier (Cecelia) of Aurora, CO.
JoAnn left New Orleans as a young child, traveling all over the eastern and southern United States as her family followed her dad’s work. She returned to the New Orleans area at the age of 16 and graduated from West Jefferson Senior High School in 1965.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1969. She pursued her love of children and her desire to help them develop for 25 years at Harahan Elementary and John Quincy Adams Junior High School. She was a fervent Christian, having served as a Sr. High Youth leader and Sunday School teacher.
She lived her faith. Her love of God and children extended to one of her personal ministries, sponsoring many children and their families over the years with Compassion International. This provided her foster children with both Christian and general education through elementary and high school while supporting their families with food donations and live animals.
Her love also extended to God’s furry creatures. Over the years, she rescued and fostered several hundred cats and dogs. This started independently with the help of a great veterinarian, Dr. Rick Richmond, and later through Once Upon A Tail, Creole Poodle Rescue, and Northshore Humane Society.
She was beloved by her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to one of her charities would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4375 Hwy 22, Mandeville, Louisiana.
E. J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, Louisiana, is honored to be entrusted with Mrs. Vincent’s funeral arrangements. Her family invites you to share thoughts, memories, and condolences by signing an online guestbook at https://www.ejfieldingfh.com.
