A beloved angel, Joan Styron passed away on Thursday January 11, 2024 with family and friends by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald A. Styron, daughter Kimberly Styron; parents, Joseph Perez and Lucy Malone Perez; sisters Lucille Perez Lintinger Silcio, and Elizabeth Perez Blakeman. She leaves behind her children, Dr.’s Ronald A. Styron, Jr., and Leslie S. Arceneaux; son-in-law Elgin L. Arceneaux, Jr. (Bubba) and daughter-in-law Luanne Lucia Styron; grandchildren, Dr.’s Jennifer Styron Schmidt and Richard L. Arceneaux, Joseph A. Styron, Jamie Styron Brock, and Jonathan L. Arceneaux; grandchildren’s spouses Nicole H. Arceneaux, Michele B. Styron, Brendon Brock, Bryan Schmidt; grandchildren, Jacob Louis Arceneaux, Molly Elizabeth Arceneaux, Norah Charlene Arceneaux, Oaklyn Adalie Brock, and Joseph Anthony Styron, Jr.; and her brother Joseph Perez, Jr. of Kentwood. Joan was born at her home in New Orleans where she grew up on Oak Street in the old Carrollton neighborhood of New Orleans, near Mater Dolorosa Church where she and her parents were married. Joan graduated from Dominican High School and majored in education at Dominican College in New Orleans. Joan and Ronald were inseparable childhood sweethearts where they grew up in the Oak street area. Joan spent her childhood in New Orleans and moved back to Metairie, La., after Ronald and her spent time living in Colorado while he was in the Armed Forces service. She lived in Metairie, La., for 35 years and she spent the last 38 years living in Covington, La. next to her children and grandchildren. Joan was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and prided her family who gave her great joy. Joan loved her dogs Dino, Bootsie, and Adaie. She also found great joy gardening and was a devout Catholic. She was a devoted parishioner and volunteer of St. Peters Parish in Covington, La. Joan was a beautiful person inside and out. Her beautiful hazel eyes and smile were so stunning, She would light up the whole room! Joan cared so deeply for the people around her. She was ever so kind and passionate and made an everlasting impact on many lives. Joan, everyone you left in this world mourns your loss, but we find solace that you are in heaven and back in the arms of Ronald. We will always love and miss you, until we can meet again.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, January 18th at 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm from the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 1:30 pm going in procession to St. Joseph Abbey for a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm.
