Joan Ferris Pohlman's Obituary
Joan Ferris Pohlman, a retired Executive Manager with Southwestern Bell, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the age of 81.
Beloved wife of the late Richard Francis Pohlman; loving daughter of the late Veronica Usher Ferris and Theara Belmont Ferris; and sister to the late Martha Ferris Walkenford. She is survived by her brother-in-law, John Herman Walkenford, III. She was the aunt of Jon Ferris Walkenford and his wife, Jennifer Keller-Walkenford and great-aunt to their children, Jon Ferris Walkenford, Jr., Jordan Elizabeth Walkenford, Jeremy Christian Walkenford and William Jacob Gillespie; Amy Walkenford Kestenbaum and her husband, Peter Kestenbaum and great-aunt to their children, Maryn Veronica Kestenbaum and Kallen Maynard Kestenbaum; Joy Elizabeth Walkenford; Johanna Kathleen Walkenford Reed and her husband, Thomas K. Reed and great-aunt of their child, Kelton Reed; Christopher Walkenford and his wife, Gidget Walkenford and great-aunt to their children, Shannon Walkenford, Christopher Walkenford, Jr., Ashley Walkenford and Christopher Walkenford. She was the step-mother of Lynda Kiehne, Andrea Koppel, Richard F. Pohlman, Sara Blanchard and John F. Pohlman.
Mrs. Pohlman graduated from Catherine McAuley High School in Portland Maine and graduated with a BA from St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. She became a full fledged member of the large Keller family leaving behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA 70448 on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 1:00 PM with visitation at church on Thursday from 12:00 noon until Mass time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in memory of Mrs. Pohlman be made to the Louisiana Bone Marrow Registry www.abmdr.org. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
