Joan Belle Alkire's Obituary
Joan Belle Plackemeier Alkire was called home by her Lord early Saturday morning, April 21, 2007.
JB was a Texan, born in Houston January 9,1930. She was the daughter of the Reverend Harry F. Plackemeier and Elsa Marie Plackemeier of Houston, TX, both deceased.
JB was a resident of Covington, LA for the past 40 years. She mothered three outstanding children, Dr. Emory C. Alkire of Texarkana,TX; Dr. Mark J. Alkire of Palmetto,FL and Dr. Leslie A. Michaelis of Covington, LA. She extended love and devotion each day to fifteen grandchildren.
JB was a multi-talented lady and gave freely of her time and effort, particularly in the service of the Lutheran Church. JB is survived by her husband, of 56 years, William K. Alkire of Covington, LA; her children, Chris, Mark , Leslie; grandchildren, Blake, William, Grant, Travis Alkire, Sean, Ryan, Reese, Lauren, William, Austin, Gabriel, Anna Alkire, John, Elise and Reid Michaelis; brother Harry Plackemeier of Houston, TX; Sisters Carolyn Klammer of Houston, TX and Kathleen Ludwig of Valparaiso, IN.
Visitation at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, #1 N. Marigold Drive, Covington, LA will be held on Wednesday April 25, beginning at 10:00 AM with funeral services to begin at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Covington Cemetery #1.
Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Extension Fund.
Services have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, LA.
