Jim Hughes' Obituary
HUGHES James W. Hughes III, of Kenner, Louisiana passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009, at the age of 66.
He was born on August 16, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana to James Wellington Hughes, Jr. and Alice Laborde Hughes. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and attended Loyola University. Jim's passion for golf lead him to a career as a manufacturer's representative for Golfwear. He was a member of Colonial Country Club and the Louisiana Scratch Golfer's Tour.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Margaret Hughes, with Prudential Gardner Realtors; daughters: Lauri Beard, Beth Szewc and Stacey Vogel; his sister, Yvonne ("Beth") Maestri; and his brother, Vic Hughes. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Ryan Beard, Megan Beard, Benjamin Szewc and Aleks Vogel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009.
Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 noon. For those so desiring, memorials in honor of James W. Hughes III may be made to the Abdominal Transplant Unit at Tulane University, 1415 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70112.
