I had the pleasure of meeting Jewel after Hurricane Katrina, while she was staying with her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Susan Lambert in Hampton, VA. She was a funny and quick-witted lady. We enjoyed small talk, HOT coffee and flowers during those weeks she lived next door. In fact,that fall, I had the best "crop" of Pansies ever as she "directed/designed" while I planted! Although, I'm not of the age for Jewel to have been my grandmother, she brought back fond memories of times I had spent with Grandma during my a childhood, adolescent and early adult years. To the family of Mrs. Jewel, I was fortunate enough to have known such a sweet and loving person. Mrs. Jewel spent time with our family because she would either come to visit my sister Cindy and her granddaughter Cami and we would visit with them. A person like Mrs. Jewel never dies because she lives on through her family and friends. She was what life was all about loving, kind and just taught people good things about life by the way she lived it. It was a pleasure to have known her. She is in heaven now watching over everyone. To the family of Mrs. Jewel or JU-JU as we would lovingly call her at FMNH. It has been an honor and a pleasure to have taken care of such a loving and beautiful lady. Her special spirit and wit made our day. I will truly miss the talks we had during meals and seeing her enjoy her love of Bingo. All our sympathy to Aunt Jewel's family. She was a great lady and we will miss her dearly. She and Uncle Val were very close friends to our deceased parents, Ben and Doris Toledano. We have many great memories of time spent with them while we were growing up. Our prayers are with her family, but know that she is now in her heavenly home watching over you. Grandma Jewel: Even though realistically I knew that this day was sort of approaching us, it still feels somewhat of a shock to me. My heart holds many wonderful memories of you. Exspecialy how growing up you celebrated many birthdays and holidays with me. Every birthday and every special occassion, you would give me a beautiful porcelain doll. I must have about 60 of them. I will never get rid of them or the beautiful bed room set and keep sakes you've given me. You taught me many life lessons. You helped me to realize the importance of God. You were one of the strongest people I know and you will always be in my heart. I love you and it has been an honor to have known you and to be one of your great grand children.
