Jerry Charles Murray's Obituary
Jerry Charles Murray passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. He was born in New Orleans, LA on August 21, 1935.
He is survived by his children, son, Ricky Murray and wife, Sherri; daughter, Lori Murray-Ray and husband, Bryon Ray Jr; his 9 grandchildren, and, 13 great-grandchildren, . He is also survived by his dearest friend Anita along with many wonderful lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jeansonne Murray; his parents Thelma Dowie Murray and Raymond Murray; brother Raymond Jr. Murray and sister Patsy.
Jerry was an Army National Guard member during the Korean War. He studied Engineering at Tulane University and then went to work for the Port of New Orleans where he retired after 30 years of service. Jerry then went to work for Jefferson Parish Police Department for another 15 years before retiring to Waveland, Mississippi. After Katrina, he and Ruby made their home in Covington to be closer to his children Lori & Rick.
Jerry never stopped working around the home or assisting others in need. He was involved with the local community where he generously volunteered his time. He was a lifelong republican and ran several campaigns for local politicians. Jerry was crowned King of Nereids in 2000 and King of Ala in 2011. He was forever the life of the party and champion of the one liner.
A man devoted to Christ our Lord, Jerry read his bible daily no matter where he traveled and never had a cross word to say against anyone.
Those lucky enough to be in his circle will cherish those memories always.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM with a gathering on Thursday beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
