Jennie Hall Gates' Obituary
Jennie Hall Pumilia Gates went to be with her Lord on March 27, 2010. She was born October 12, 1961.
She leaves behind her loving husband, John A. Gates and her three children: Kristi P. LeBlanc (Anthony), Joseph G. and Keith A. Pumilia Jr. (Marie). She is also survived by her adored granddaughters, Madison and Brooke LeBlanc, her mother, Yvonne Hall Moores, brothers Charles "Chuck", Robert (Jennifer), and Jonathan Hall, sisters Carrie (Loren) Wisehart and Sherry (Robby) Marquette as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the father of her children, Keith A. Pumilia Sr. She was predeceased by her father, Harry Hall.
Jennie was employed with the Jefferson Parish Public School Systems as an elementary school teacher, first at Terrytown Elementary and currently at Leo Kerner Elementary in Lafitte. She was voted Teacher of the Year by her peers four times, twice at each school. She will be greatly missed by her colleagues and students. Jennie inspired everyone she met to be the best person they could be. A memorial service will be held at Tammany Oaks Church of Christ, 3700 Hwy 59, Mandeville, at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Jennie Gates Fund, Leo Kerner Elementary School, 4924 City Park Dr. Lafitte, LA. 70067 to purchase library books in her memory for the school library or to the American Cancer Society.
