Just have been thinking of you. Wishing I could hear your voice or see you in person. Our long talks, hanging out, just spending time with you was some of most memorable times. Loved our beach walks, swims, and just life. Hope you are enjoying heaven and swimming off the coast of Hawaii. My youngest daughter works at the dive shop that you, Dennis, and other friends used when y'all came over to go diving at PCB. You would have love her. Until next time Jeff...........

Happy Heavenly Birthday!! Today you would be 59. Ha!!! Still young at heart. When we met, you told me you were younger than you really were and were just starting college or med school. Then eventually you told me the truth. I'm forever thankful for the bond we shared on and off since 1992 when we met. You had a heart of gold, such a gentleman with a kind spirit. Didn't matter who you met, you were like this with all. You loved dogs and cats and connected with them as well. Hope you are dancing in the clouds today and everyday. Happy Birthday Coop!!!!!!

This year marks 10 years you've been gone. I miss your voice, your calls, your smile, your laugh, you just being you, your jokes, your craziness, and adventures. You were such a GREAT person inside and out. A good person to everyone you met. Our last adventure was shooting pool with my younger brother, cocktails, and then we went to dinner and movie. Chatted about life and the good ole days. You asked me what I wanted, again. Of course I didn't give a straight answer. Always scared. Guess I know why now. I think of you all the time still. Lots of things remind me of you that I see often such. Fast cars, watching beach, volleyball, chicken wings, martinis, long walks, adventures, and more. I know you are not hurting anymore. It was rough the last couple months you had. But I'm thankful we still remained close friends. See you again one day Coop!!!!!

All of the firsts have happened. My first birthday since you died. The first Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and the fiftieth birthday you never got to have. I keep thinking that in 7 days you will go into surgery and on May 12 you will die (again). I wonder if I will count time this way forever more. My grief is more about the physical and mental suffering you were forced to endure during the last two years of your life, than it is about your absence from mine. You were a sweet, gentle, brilliant soul who had such love for every aspect of life...people, animals, insects, the earth. Despite your pain, you never complained. You were a better human being than most can ever hope to be and the best brother a sister could ever hope to have.

I apologize for this late comment / tribute. My condolences to Jeff's family and friends. I just happened to search for Jeff Cooper, and Jeff Kahn today and found this obituary. I was the "third" Jeff in the household during Jeff's medical school years at LSUMC. As we were 3 Jeffreys living in the same apartment, we usually went by our last names. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

I had the privilege of Jeff's friendship during our residency at LSU. Unfortunately afterwards I was out of touch. I had meant to meet up with him this week on my trip to New Orleans and I just learned of his passing.

I can't begin to describe how immensely sad I felt today. I will miss him deeply. He was a great friend and a doctor.
