I first met Sidney and Jeannie 36 years ago when I took a job at NBC In Jefferson where Sidney served as a Director. After meeting them only a couple of times, it was easy to see what warm, sincere people they were, and, soon I found myself looking forward to the next time I could enjoy their company. In the years that followed our first meeting, I was very fortunate to have many opportunities to spend time with the Campbells. From an occasional dinner and an overnight stay at their home on Tokalan, to many visits to their beautiful Lake Ramsey home, to numerous trips to visit them in their beloved San Juan, Sid and Jeannie extended their friendship to me with open arms. Over the years this friendship grew in to a special bond, that outside the relationship with my own parents and family, has probably been the next most important relationship in my adult life. I truly grateful for their friendship and the many happy times and wonderful memories the Campbell's shared with me. After Sid's passing I tried to visit Jeannie as often as possible and always looked forward to these visits. Without question, Jeannie was the sweetest, warmest most caring person I have met in this lifetime. Jeannie loved her flowers and I loved bringing them to her when I visited. Jeannie also loved her family deeply and most of our conversations were centered around her children, grand children and great-grandchildren. She loved talking about and sharing stories about them.
I extend my sincere sympathy to the entire Campbell family at this difficult time. Grant and Sydney Jean, I want you to know how very special your parents were to me. I am a better person for having known them. I will miss them both very much.

Dear Campbell Family,
Just seeing Jeannie's smiling face in this photograph reminds us of all the wonderful times we had with her and Sidney. Not just the European trips, but all the times we would get together during French Quarter Festival and all those wonderful yard parties on the lake while a pick-up band would play in the gazebo. And the food!! Jeannie was the epitome of "the Hostess with the Mostess." Among other things, she taught me that club soda can just about remove a stain from anything! Just as Sidney is missed, so shall Jeannie; however, it is comforting to know that they are reunited. I feel sure that Sidney, who always had a camera at the ready, was the first to snap a picture as she entered Heaven's Gate.
With fondness,
Russell and Jennie Steele
To Sidney Jean and Grant and all family members... I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know she would want you all to remember all the good times and laugh about all the fun times you all had. I was privileged to be a part of some of those good times during the many gatherings at your house on Tokalon Place and with the Gaylord club as a child. Great and fond memories.
Sincerely,
Don Hingle, II and family
The time I spent with Jeannie I spent with a beautiful spirit. I first met her in Fall 2007 and later the same year spent Thanksgiving with her at April and Kent's home. Then a few weeks later she sent me a Christmas gift and made me feel I was one of the family. It meant so much to me for her to think of me in that way and I never forgot it. Not that I could have because she kept sending me Christmas gifts from then on, WOW what a thoughtful and caring lady! I enjoyed my visits with her in the cottage where she would share her life and travels which always kept my attention as did her late husband Sidney who was a fantastic story teller as well. She always kept candy for the children and they always left her with a pocket full. She appreciated the little things in life as well and would walk me out to her flower garden on the deck and teach me about all the different varieties. I wish I had met her many years before and been there to celebrate life and hear her play the banjo as many of you did. The memories you share tell the story of an amazing woman whose loving spirit I will miss. Thank you Jeannie for the richness you added to my life and I look forward to the day I see you again in Heaven!! My heart and my prayers go out to all of you who were family and friends of my dear friend Jeannie. -bo
So many memories swirl through my mind when I think of and remember the life and times we spent with the Campbell's. Like when I was working for Big Sid during the summer with Kent. I stayed during the week with Kent on Tokalon and Big Sid would drive us to work. We would spend our time loading trucks with bundles of shingles, rolls of felt paper, boxes of nails, and boards of sheet rock. Often times, we would go out with the guys to deliver as well. This was the days when you put a bundle of shingles on your shoulder and climb the ladder and place them on a hot felt paper roof. Once we got back to the house, all Kent and I did was eat and go to bed. Those were dog days of summer, but such a learning experience. Then the wonderful St. Patrick's Day festivities at the Campbell's. Everyone seemed to bring their best pot luck dishes and they were some good. Then when the parade was approaching we all took the stroll down to Metairie Rd and took in the sights and sounds of all the Irish, especially, The Shady Ladies. It seemed like Dad, Big Sid, Gene Foulon, John Poley, and all of us youngsters were up front to watch the action. Of course the highlight of the party was coming back to the house and listening to all of the beautiful jazz being played by Big Sid, Ms. Jeanie and the beautiful friends of the Campbell's who joined in. And then the Fourth of July and Labor Day Weekends in Waveland. It became such a tradition.
These and so many memories will always stay in my heart and I will never forget the love and friendship our family had with the Campbell's.
All our love, The Flair's
