Jean Danford Snow's Obituary
Jean Danford Snow, 98, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023.
She is survived by her children Joe (Judy) Onstead of Los Angeles, Stan (Sheila) Onstead of Grand Prairie, Susan (Edwin) Ellis of Houston, Jerry (Judy) Onstead of Omaha, Scott (Valena) Onstead of Mandeville, Anita (Hilary) Snow of Mandeville, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, John B. Snow, brother Stanley Danford, and sisters Louise Henderson and Charlene Bauer. She was the daughter of the late Cleo (Dan) and Aurora (Nora) Danford of Hutchinson, Kansas.
Jean was raised in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from Hutchinson High School. She worked in bookkeeping for a number of years. After moving to New Orleans in 1972, she graduated from the John McCrady School of Art, and went on to become an award-winning artist. She also taught art and had many friends in the New Orleans art community. Jean enjoyed a life-long love of creative arts and crafts, and often shared her art through gifts to family. Jean was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. She was devoted to her large extended family. She was a devout Christian. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will begin at 1 pm. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington, La., followed by a funeral service at 2 pm. Please Share a Memory on the Tribute Wall at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
