Jean Grace Kelly's Obituary
Jean Grace Kelly died April 29th at the age of 79 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Jean Kelly was born October 12, 1929 in Ashley, North Dakota, to the late Virgil Collins and Margaret (Johnstone) Collins.
She lived most of her life in Louisiana but always loved North Dakota and the Midwest.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Hugh John Kelly and her brother Roy Collins.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory five children: Pamela (Ed) Van Hoven, Michael (Elaine) Kelly, Patricia (Bud) Beyer, Kevin (Vicky) Kelly, and Shawn (Elizabeth) Kelly. She also leaves eight grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Colin, Amy, Hannah, Rose, Sophia, and Chloe.
Jean’s greatest gift to all was unconditional love. She gave it not only to her family but also to most everyone else she met. Jean made you feel loved no matter who you were or what you did. She had a way of embracing total strangers and making them feel like family. All will miss her intensely. Few people have this unique quality. She was deeply loved by everyone who came in contact with her –including people from whom she bought groceries or gas.
Viewing will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 4, 2009 at the St. Joseph Abbey Christian Life Center (Just past the cathedral on the left) located at 75376 River Road, St. Covington, LA. Funeral to follow at 2:00.
Please donate to the Autism Society of America in lieu of flowers.
