Javan "Jay" Joseph Bennett's Obituary
Javan Joseph "Jay" Bennett of Mandeville, LA passed away on Monday, March 04, 2013. He was born, Thursday, February 12, 1931 in Albert Lea, MN to the late Jay and Gladys Larson Bennett and has been a resident of Mandeville since 2007.
The beloved husband of Billie Bennett, he is survived by three daughters: Rose Michelle Bernard, Jeanne Desormeaux and Sharon Simpson and one son, Michael Patterson. He is also survived by six granddaughters: Victoria, Sheila, Ashley, Amber, Jean, and Alexandra, and by five grandsons: Steven, Justin, Jacob, Zachary, and Ryan and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Beth Gribble and grandson, Javan Charles Simpson.
Mr. Bennett was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired after 47 years as a diesel mechanic, having worked in Lake Charles, LA, Bridge City, TX, Port Arthur, TX and finally Houston, TX.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Labby Funeral Home, 2110 Highway 171 S. DeRidder, LA 70634.
Visitation at the funeral home will begin Monday at 11:00 AM
Interment in the Barrentine Cemetery in Longville, LA will immediately follow the services.
