Janice Carol Hankins Straight's Obituary
Janice Carol Hankins Straight was born on October 7, 1943, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She died peacefully at her home in Covington, Louisiana, on November 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband and caring friends.
She was the eldest of three children born to Mitchell and Velma Hankins. Janice graduated from Moss Pont High School and immediately began her long and successful career working for the federal government. The loves of her life were her cherished miniature schnauzers John and Max, baseball, and, most of all, her husband R. Grant Straight.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Gaines of Heflin, Alabama, and Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Hankins of Delta City, Mississippi, and her parents Mitchell and Velma Hankins of Moss Point, Mississippi. She is survived by her husband Grant and her sisters Ann Hankins and Kay Hankins Cagle, both of Eatonton (Lake Oconee), Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a favorite charity or to any local animal shelter or SPCA.
A private celebration of life service was held on November 16, 2023 at the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home.
